1922 (2017)
  1) Time Stamp: 0:37:20
     A) Scene Proceeding: Wilfred (Thomas Jane) and Henry (Dylan Schmid) are coaxing a cow on top of the well
     B) Animal Killed: Cow
     C) Brutality Rating: 4 - The cow falls through the well cover (it happens fast) and you hear it screaming and moaning and crying in pain. Then Wilfred shoots it.
  2) Time Stamp: 1:07:00
     A) Scene Proceeding: Wilfred has just taken out the mortgage on the house and is counting the money
     B) Animal Killed: Rat
     C) Brutality Rating: 4 - He sticks his hand up in the top of the closet and a rat bites him. He flings it on the ground and stomps it to death. It's bloody and violent and really, really unpleasant.
  3) Time Stamp: 1:30:15
     A) Scene Proceeding: Wilfred has just left Harlan's (Neil McDonough) house and is walking back to his own
     B) Animal Killed: Cow
     C) Brutality Rating: 4 - The cow that was living in his house seems to have fallen off the porch and is dying in the snow. It looks very real, and is very upsetting. Wilfred shoots her in an act of mercy, off camera.

ABCs of Death (2012)
  1) Time Stamp: 0:16:50
     A) Scene Proceeding: (Featured Short: "D is for Dogfight") A man is preparing for a cage fight
     B) Animal Injured: Dog
     C) Brutality Rating: 4 - As far as violence goes, the animal violence is shockingly realistic as the dog bites the man. The man punches the dog several times in a "slo motion fight" kind of way (sweat/water flying, head turning, etc). It's an upsetting short from start to finish, and even though it ends "positively," just fucking skip it.
  2) Time Stamp: 1:09:02
     A) Scene Proceeding: (Featured Short: "P is for Pressure") A woman is putting on fishnet stockings and black high heeled shoes, getting ready to be on camera
     B) Animal Killed: Kitten
     C) Brutality Rating: 4 - It's a crush video. The death is off screen, but there are extended scenes of the woman petting the kitten with her shoe, and then pressing its head down onto the carpet before a quick cutaway and filming her knees as she stomps. Sound effects don't help. The entire short is unnecessary. Skip it.
  3) Time Stamp: 1:49:05
     A) Scene Proceeding: (Featured Short: "Y is for Young Buck") Opening seconds of the short a young boy is hunting with an elderly man
     B) Animal Killed: Deer
     C) Brutality Rating: 1 - The boy fires an arrow at the deer and it pierces the animal's hide. No blood, but it's dead.
  4) Time Stamp: 1:51:35
     A) Scene Proceeding: (Featured Short: "Y is for Young Buck") The same elderly man from the opening is licking "sweat" from young boys off of a school gym bench
     B) Animal Killed: Deer
     C) Brutality Rating: 5 - In a flashback, the now dead deer is brutally hacked to pieces by the elderly man, who then wipes blood across the young boy's face and proceeds to molest him. Cut back to the gym, and the young boy is using the deer's severed head to kill the old man. At the end of the short, the boy wears the deer's severed head. Skip the entire short. WTF.

ABCs of Death 2 (2014)
  1) Time Stamp: 0:50:09
     A) Scene Proceeding: (Featured Short: "L is For Legacy") A man is being tied up, and a cute little rat is running around
     B) Animal Killed: Rat
     C) Brutality Rating: 5 - In this case, not only is death of the rat bloody, but it looks... real. As in, legitimately real. As such, proceed with caution with this short.
  2) Time Stamp: 1:07:51
     A) Scene Proceeding: (Featured Short: "Q is for Questionnaire") A man is being asked IQ questions, and the scenes are inter-cut with the questions
     B) Animal Injured: Gorilla
     C) Brutality Rating: 1 - This is borderline, in that the gorilla looks ridiculously fake, so it's hard to take seriously. But if you're super-sensitive, avoid. Or, just avoid altogether. Because ugh.
  3) Time Stamp: 1:38:41
     A) Scene Proceeding: (Featured Short: "Y is for Youth") The whole short has some odd, though fake, implied animal/dog death.
     B) Animal Killed/Injured: Dog
     C) Brutality Rating: 1 - It's really hard to gauge, but the odds of anyone being upset by the animal stuff, as opposed to the human tragedy here, are pretty slim
  4) Time Stamp: 1:45:00
     A) Scene Proceeding: (Featured Short: "Z is for Zygote") Mother and... daughter... are crawling out on the porch and a cat is caught in a trap
     B) Animal Killed: Cat
     C) Brutality Rating: 4 - We don't see the cat killed, but we see a skinned animal after, and it's clearly cat-like. Not pleasant.

Alien 3 (1992)
  1) Time Stamp: 0:14:06
     A) Scene Proceeding: Murphy (Christopher Fairbank) walks in a room and finds his dog laying on the ground, whimpering
     B) Animal Hurt: Dog
     C) Brutality Rating: 2 - The dogs face is all cut up, not coincidentally in the shape of facehugger tentacles. But he is temporarily "okay."
  2) Time Stamp: 0:23:53
     A) Scene Proceeding: They are having the funeral for the people who died
     B) Animal Killed: Dog
     C) Brutality Rating: 5 - The dog starts whining and crying, and then we watch as the xenomorph fights its way out of the shrieking dog. It's alive and crying the whole time until it explodes. Just skip to 25:00 in save yourself the trauma. You're clear for the rest of the film.

American Psycho (2000)
  1) Time Stamp: 0:22:10
     A) Scene Proceeding: Patrick Bateman (Christian Bale) is harassing a homeless man in an alley
     B) Animal Killed: Dog
     C) Brutality Rating: 4 - Patrick stomps the dog to death after killing its owner. First kick isn't shown but the second and third are shown in shadow. The dog is heard squealing.

Amityville:The Awakening (2017... kind of )
  1) Time Stamp: 0:59:35
     A) Scene Proceeding: Candice (Jennifer Morrison) and Joan (Jennifer Jason Leigh) are walking James (Cameron Monaghan) around outside in his wheelchair
     B) Animal Killed: Dog
     C) Brutality Rating: 4 - Juliet (Mckenna Grace) screams as the Larry the dog floats up from the water, dead, covered in wounds. Only Juliet seems to care.
  2) Time Stamp: 1:16:07
     A) Scene Proceeding: Belle (Bella Thorne) and Juliet are hiding from James
     B) Animal Killed: Dog... kind of?
     C) Brutality Rating: 1 - Larry comes back as a ghost dog and attacks Belle, and she stabs him a bunch, but we never see it actually happen, or what happened to Ghost Larry, or if it even actually happened? It's... dumb.

The Amityville Horror (2005)
  1) Time Stamp: 0:54:48
     A) Scene Proceeding: George is sleeping in the basement and is awakened at by the dog barking
     B) Animal Killed: Dog
     C) Brutality Rating: 3 - Dog cries and blood splashes on the walls of the boathouse
  2) Time Stamp: 0:55:50
     A) Scene Proceeding: George thought he was killing a man with the ax, but it is revealed to be the dog
     B) Animal Killed: Dog
     C) Brutality Rating: 5 - That's a destroyed dog head... Camera lingers. Not cool.

Angelica (2015)
  1) Time Stamp: 0:35:54
     A) Scene Proceeding: Constance (Jena Malone) has walked into Joseph's (Tom Stoppard) lab
     B) Animal Mortally Injured But Distressingly Alive: Monkey, Dogs
     C) Brutality Rating: 5 - FIVE. Five alarm five. There are cages full of animals. Then we discover Thomas is doing experiments on two dogs and a monkey (the one we met earlier). While one dog looks fake, the other two seem to be trained animals. It is all awful and upsetting and Constance's reaction will echo your own. Speed through until she exits the lab. You don't need to see it and just be aware that what she witnesses changes the way she sees Joseph, as well as the entire dynamic of their relationship.

The Autopsy of Jane Doe(2016)
  1) Time Stamp: 0:48:00
     A) Scene Proceeding: The boy is getting a flashlight from Tommy (Brian Cox)
     B) Animal Killed: Cat
     C) Brutality Rating: 2.5 - The cat is injured, and they put it out of its misery. It's not particularly brutal, but it's not necessary either.

The Babadook (2014)
  1) Time Stamp: 1:09:35
     A) Scene Proceeding: Amelia is watching TV, the dog is barking. She gets up from her chair and chases the dog into the kitchen.
     B) Animal Killed: Dog
     C) Brutality Rating: 4 - The dog's head is out of the shot, but it cries and kicks and struggles before having its neck broken. Traumatown.

The Backwoods (Bosque de sombras) (2006)
  1) Time Stamp: 0:25:20
     A) Scene Proceeding: Paul (Gary Oldman) has just given a very manly lecture about shooting animals
     B) Animal Killed: Rabbit
     C) Brutality Rating: 4 - He fires and it looks like he missed, but then they walk up to the rabbit. It has some fake blood on it and is dying slowly. Then he picks up the rabbit and walks away with it. It is simultaneously upsetting but appears unrealsitc. It is still likely to upset the sensitive.
  2) Time Stamp: 0:41:40
     A) Scene Proceeding: The beagle runs off barking; Paul and Norman (Paddy Considine) chase after it
     B) Animal Killed: Dog
     C) Brutality Rating: 1 - We don't know what happened to the pup. It runs into the woods barking, and we hear a last bark before it goes quiet; no yelp, no cry.
  3) Time Stamp: 1:11:51
     A) Scene Proceeding: The locals have sent their dog after Paul; the dog attacks
     B) Animal Killed: Dog
     C) Brutality Rating: 4 - We hear the dog shriek. When his owner finds him, Paul has stabbed him through the middle with a tree branch. He's still breathing. The dog reappears in the background at the end of the scene.

Cabin Fever (2002)
  1) Time Stamp: 0:02:45
     A) Scene Proceeding: The credits have LITERALLY just stopped rolling
     B) Animal Killed: Rabbit, Dog
     C) Brutality Rating: 3 - A man walks by the camera holding a dead rabbit, and he walks past a German Shepherd that is laying on the ground, dead. He tries to wake it up, and ends up breaking its body in half. It's disgusting, but doesn't look super real.
  2) Time Stamp: 0:32:11
     A) Scene Proceeding: Blonde Douchebag and Baseball Hat Douchebag are looking for help, and walk up on a hog farm
     B) Animal Killed: Pig
     C) Brutality Rating: 4 - A pig is strung up, and while it looks dead, the sound effects make it seem like the woman is slaughtering it alive. It's insides fall out, and she beats it.
  3) Time Stamp: 1:10:10
     A) Scene Proceeding: Shaun Hunter just found the dog eating Blonde Assault Victim
     B) Animal Killed: Dog
     C) Brutality Rating: 1 - The German Shepherd chases after Shaun Hunter and we see him lift the gun, but the shot cuts away and we only hear the gunshot off camera
  4) Time Stamp: 1:15:11
     A) Scene Proceeding: Shaun Hunter is driving the truck down the street and checks the mirror
     B) Animal Killed: Deer
     C) Brutality Rating: 5 - He hits the deer, it makes contact with the hood, and then there is an extended scene of its broken legs kicking and writhing in the broken windshield while Shaun Hunter grabs for a gun. He shoots it, blood explodes everywhere, and the deer flies out in to the street. This movie sucks.

Cabin Fever (2016)
  1) Time Stamp: 0:01:26
     A) Scene Proceeding: The credits have LITERALLY just... Holy shit, every entry for this movie is going to be almost identical to the original, isn't it? This should be fun.
     B) Animal Killed: Rabbit, Dog
     C) Brutality Rating: 4 - A man walks by the camera holding a dead rabbit, and he walks past a German Shepherd that is laying on the ground, dead. He tries to wake it up, and ends up breaking its body in half. It's disgusting, and this is the remake, so of course it has to be gorier, and more real.
  2) Time Stamp: 0:36:38
     A) Scene Proceeding: Flannel Idiot and Law Guy are looking for help and walk up on a hog farm (seriously guys... it's the same movie)
     B) Animal Killed: Pig
     C) Brutality Rating: 4 - A pig is strung up, and while it looks dead, the sound effects make it seem like the woman is slaughtering it alive. Obviously, it's bloodier and significantly more disgusting this time. Because what else is the point of this movie?
  3) Time Stamp: 1:21:14
     A) Scene Proceeding: Not Shaun Hunter has just found the dog eating Blonde Screamer
     B) Animal Killed: Dog
     C) Brutality Rating: 2 - He shoots the dog, and it's not on camera in this version either, but we hear the dog cry this time. It's mild compared to the indignity of what he inflicts on Blonde Screamer

Candyman (1992)
  1) Time Stamp: 0:46:45
     A) Scene Proceeding: Helen wakes up in a pool of blood
     B) Animal Killed: Dog

     A) Scene Proceeding: Tommy Ross (William Katt) asks Carrie (Sissy Spacek) to the prom while standing on her doorstep.
     B) Animal Killed: Pig
     C) Brutality Rating: 2 - With verry little preamble, Billy (John Travolta) smashes an unseen pig with a sledgehammer as Chris (Nancy Allen) cheers him on. Nothing is shown, but you know what's happening.

Carrie (2002)
  1) Time Stamp: 1:08:36
     A) Scene Proceeding: It's literally the same as the last one.
     B) Animal Killed: Pig
     C) Brutality Rating: 2 - This Carrie was made for TV, so we hear almost nothing, and see even less. It's probably the least traumatizing of the three adapatations.

Carrie (2013)
  1) Time Stamp: 1:08:36
     A) Scene Proceeding: Seriously? You know the drill. This is our third time here, kids.
     B) Animal Killed: Pig
     C) Brutality Rating: 4 - This is the worst of them. The pig squeals, and we see the aftermath close up as Chris (Portia Doubleday) stabs it in the neck while it's not yet dead

The Rage: Carrie 2 (1999)
  1) Time Stamp: 0:27:18
     A) Scene Proceeding: Walter the dog got out, and Rachel (Emily Bergl) goes looking for him. He’s running down the middle of the road.
     B) Animal Injured: Dog
     C) Brutality Rating: 4 - He gets hit by a a truck and it looks incredibly real. He is hurt really badly. Based on how badly he was hit, he shouldn’t have survived. But he does, which is the only reason this doesn’t get a 5.

Castle Freak (1995)
  1) Time Stamp: 0:29:34
     A) Scene Proceeding: Rebecca (Jessica Dollarhide) is calling out for her father when we see a cat in the monster's cell
     B) Animal Killed: Cat
     C) Brutality Rating: 5 - The cat screams and cries as it is pulled back in to the cell through the food door, then we see the bloody body thrown to the floor. It's pretty awful.

     A) Scene Proceeding: Julia Hickson (Tara Subkoff) is getting into her car and backs up
     B) Animal "Injured": Dog
     C) Brutality Rating: 1 - It seems like Julia has hit Carl's (Vincent D'Onofrio) white german shepherd, but he's just pretending. He's a good actor though.
  2) Time Stamp: 0:46:05
     A) Scene Proceeding: Catherine (Jennifer Lopez) is petting the horse, when a clock starts counting down, and little Carl looks terrified
     B) Animal Killed: Horse
     C) Brutality Rating: 5 - You get a literal countdown to warn you it's coming, but it doesn't lessen the impact of seeing a live horse vivisected in front of you. A brutal and surreal image in a film full of them.

The Charnel House (2016)
  1) Time Stamp: 0:21:41
     A) Scene Proceeding: The Old Man (actor names ommitted because who cares) can't get the TV to turn off

     A) Scene Proceeding: The Old Man is trying to get out of the building and finds himself surrounded by cows
     B) Animal Killed: Cows

Children of the Corn (1987)
  1) Time Stamp: 0:33:40
     A) Scene Proceeding: The Harbinger comes limping out of his junky old gas station, talking to himself as the creepy clouds roll in. After a cutaway, he opens the hood of the truck.
     B) Animal Killed: Dog
     C) Brutality Rating: 1 - Sarge's bloody bandana is sitting on the truck engine. While the old man is upset, we never see anything. This is EPICALLY mild for a Stephen King dog death.

The Collector (2009)
  1) Time Stamp: 0:44:00
     A) Scene Proceeding: Arkin is looking for the little girl, & walks into a room where the floor is covered in acid. You hear the cat before you see it.
     B) Animal Killed: Cat
     C) Brutality Rating: 5 - The scene of the cat's death is prolonged, brutal, and totally unnecessary: three strikes at DOTD
  2) Time Stamp: 1:15:50
     A) Scene Proceeding: Arkin and the little girl are escaping the house
     B) Animal Killed: Dog
     C) Brutality Rating: 3.5 - You can clearly see it's not a real dog, but it's still unpleasant

The Conjuring (2013)

     B) Animal Killed: Dog

Cooties (2014)

     A) Scene Proceeding: It's the very beginning of the film. Just assume its coming.
     B) Animal Killed: Chicken
     C) Brutality Rating: 5 - Dude breaks the chicken's neck, then drops it in a meat grinder. The whole opening scene is a visual of how chicken nuggets are made. So. Enjoy, meat eaters.

Crimson Peak (2015)
  1) Time Stamp: 1:35:24
     A) Scene Proceeding: Edith (Jessica Chastain) has just sent Thomas (Tom Hiddleston) to finish off Alan (Charlie Hunam) when she calls the dog to her
     B) Animal Killed: Dog
     C) Brutality Rating: 3 - You hear the dog cry, and it's obvious Lucille has killed it, but her gown obscures it, so we don't see anything

Cujo (1983)
  1) Time Stamp: 0:03:18
     A) Scene Proceeding: Cujo chases the rabbit into its den, inciting a shitload of bats
     B) Animal Injured: Dog
     C) Brutality Rating: 2 - Our poor pooch gets a mean bite on the nose from a bat, and his crying is upsetting. But not compared to what comes later. While the scenes themselves may be rated low for our purposes, the movie as a whole would be a 5. So keep that in mind if you have never seen Cujo and are considering a watch.
  2) Time Stamp: 1:25:37
     A) Scene Proceeding: Donna (Dee Wallace) falls backward after hitting Cujo with the bat (we never see him actually get hit)
     B) Animal Injured: Dog

     B) Animal Killed: Dog
     C) Brutality Rating: 1 - Donna shoots Cujo, but clever editing means we never have to see it happen... One of the few perks of this movie, animal violence wise.

Darkness Rising (2017)
  1) Time Stamp: 0:37:52
     A) Scene Proceeding: Dude decides to take on a dog, grabs a fireplace poker, opens the door, and challenges the dog
     B) Animal Injured: Dog
     C) Brutality Rating: 2 - We see the dog dead, but it ends up he's a ghost dog, and he returns alive a few seconds later. Not as traumatizing as it could be.

A Dark Song (2017)
  1) Time Stamp: 0:21:00
     A) Scene Proceeding: Sophia (Catherine Walker) goes for a last walk outside before starting the ritual
     B) Animal Already Dead: A dog probably? Maybe a cat. It has a collar.
     C) Brutality Rating: 4 - Whatever it is, is half-decomposed, covered in maggots, and looks like it died in pain. It's pretty awful. And the shot lingers.

     B) Animal Killed: Dog
     C) Brutality Rating: 5 - Chloe stabs the dog and we hear him cry out. Her mom and Ethan find the baby dog's bloody body at 0:35:39. It's the real dog trained to play dead, which just makes it worse.

     B) Animal Killed: Kitten
